During this procedure, the presence of both the principal and the trustee is required. The personal signature of the principal secures the document, followed by notarization.

A trustee can be a member of your family or a close relative, a lawyer of the real estate agency through which you complete the transaction.

When you decide on the powers for a trustee, get a power of attorney form from a notary public (or print a standard template from the Internet). Going to the notary's office, fill out the form, sign and witness it in accordance with the law at the notary. Give a copy of the power of attorney form to your authorized representative. The notary charges a fee for issuing a power of attorney. The cost of notary services depends on the type of power of attorney and varies from 80 to 3,000 lire. If necessary, you need to bring a sworn translator with you. Often the translator is already at the disposal of the notary office, and the representative of the notary may invite him to draw up your power of attorney. Translation services are issued separately.
